ACCC Entities and their Attributes Worksheet
Create ERDs for the following cases.Identify entities, identifier and attributes for each entity, and relationships between the entities. Identifiers can be represented as either PK or underline.Define cardinalities of each relationship. In this assignment, you don't need to define an associative entity (optional). Let me clarify that while a many-to-many relationship should be converted to an associative entity for the next step (logical data modeling), this assignment for conceptual data modeling allows you to either leave it as many-to-many or use an associative entity for it.If needed, you can make some reasonable assumptions on attributes and cardinalities of relationship.Problem 1Create an ERD based on the following business rules for course enrollment. Each course can have multiple sections. Multiple courses cannot be taught in the same section. Each section is assigned to one instructor. Each instructor can teach zero, one, or many sections of courses. Each student can enroll many courses (note that students enroll one of sections, not directly courses). Some students may not enroll any sections.Problem 2Create an ERD of the gallery's database.Galleries keep information about artists who has at least one artwork, their names (which are unique), birthplaces, age, and style of art. Each piece of artwork that can be made by one or many artists has the information about its unique title, the year it was made, its type of art (e.g., painting, lithograph, sculpture, photograph), and its price. All pieces of artwork are also classified into groups of various kinds (e.g., portraits, still lives, works by Picasso, or works of the 19th century); a given piece may belong to more than one group. Each group is identified by a name (like those just given) that describes the group. Finally, galleries keep information about customers. For each customer, galleries keep that a customer’s unique ID, name, address, and total amount of dollars spent in the gallery. Each customer has the list of artists and groups of art that the customer may prefer, if any.Problem 3Create an ERD based on the following business rules for a manufacturer.A manufacturing company produces products. The following product information is stored: product unique ID, product name and quantity on hand. These products are made up of many components. Each component is supplied by one or more suppliers. The component information includes component unique ID, name, and description, and the supplier information includes supplier unique ID, name, and city.A supplier can exist without providing any components.A component does not have to be associated with a product. Not all components are used in products.A product cannot exist without components.DeliverablesYou can use either PowerPoint or Lucidchart to create your ERDs.
