Explanation & Answer

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

  • In my desired workplace, I would like a little time off to eat a quick lunch and maybe make a few personal calls. I don't need much time, just about 20 minutes or so. That's perfectly within the range of the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), which requires that employees be given a certain amount of time to eat and do personal things. It's okay with me if I don't get paid during that time, just as long as I get paid for the time I'm actually working.

"A lunch or a meal break is an approved period of time under the federal law. This Federal law, the FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act), permits employees to eat or engage in permitted personal activities"..."There is a federal rule that says a break has to be at least 20 minutes long to be a paid one."   http://lunchbreaklaws.uslegal.com/federa..

  • The Congress finds that personal injuries and illnesses arising out of work situations impose a substantial burden upon, and are a hindrance to, interstate commerce in terms of lost production, wage loss, medical expenses, and disability compensation payments.
