. Ideal-gas process drawn three ways
Question Description
One liter of an ideal monatomic gas (gamma=5/3) at atmospheric pressure (1.0 atm) and a temperature of 300K is used in the following process: an adiabatic compression to 1/3 of its original volume, followed by a constant-pressure expansion to the original volume, followed by a constant-volume cooling to 300K.
Find the p,V,T state variables for each turning point of the process and express them in liters, atmospheres and Kelvins respectively. Organize your answers in a table.
Draw three diagrams displaying this process: p-V, p-T and V-T. Clearly label the axes on each graph. Clearly label the pressure, volume and temperature value at each turning point on the axes of your graphs.
