Q1. Compare and contrast the different mindsets that testers have versus software developers. What approaches do you recommend to help bridge the gap between the two? Software developers and software testers have the same goal in common, deliver a quality product. The mindset of testers and software developers differ in that their goals are different. Software developers are focused on solving each step in the process until all processes are completed. They need to be confident that the code is going to do what they need it to do. This confidents may cause developers to have author biases and become less open-minded to other possibilities. Software testers on the hand are not focused on the how each process is solved but how each process reacts. Testers must have the mindset that there is a defect/bug in the process and their job is to find these bugs. Testers must also be more factual and mindful when they report their findings. Software developers perform many iterations of testing while coding. Software testers are more experienced and have less biases which make them more successful at finding bugs. According to Black, Veenendaal and Graham, developers are roughly 50% effective, while certified test teams can be 95% or more effective. Developers who are mindful of tester's techniques and can think like testers would probably be able to raise their effectiveness at finding defects. How important is it for a project manager running an IT project to have technical skills in the technology being used in the project he or she is running? Explain. Technical skills are like tools for project managers and any other type of job. Project managers deals with projects that can change a company’s vision or just change a piece of hardware, but either way they need to some basic skills in order to perform their job. It is very important for project managers to be well educated on these skills, else the projects will not be finished on time or the quality will be very poor and people will lose confidence in the project manager. What are the skills necessary to be an effective project manager? Elaborate. Every effective project manager needs two types of skills. Soft skills and technical skills. Soft skills are the ones that are more related to how the project manager treats and relates to other people. For example, leadership, negotiation, communication, active listening, etc. Technical skills are the knowledge the project manager has regarding the type of business he or she is working on. Some technical skills relate to project management software like MS Project, estimating budget and costs, etc. (Brewer & Dittman, 2013) Define the project management triple constraint and explain its significance to project managers. The triple constraint in mainly the perfect balance between cost, time, and scope that should result in quality. If a company gives appropriate “quantities” of each the quality should be premium. Project managers are the ones in charge of maintaining the balance. Even if the requirements change, the project manager needs to rebalance the project in order for it to be successful and to deliver the product the customer asked for. (Haughey, 2011) As an IT project manager, how do these impact your projects? It will impact my project greatly because the client or the company I work for reduces my budget I may have to reduce personnel to maintain quality of the product, and I will have to ask for more time. And if I am not given the time I would need I may have to refuse to continue the project because I don’t want to give bad quality to a client or to my company’s customers. References 1. Mobile computing and mobile application have been developed in a crazy speed throughout in the world and throughout in many different fields, such as E-commences, on-line shopping stores, apartment management, home sales, or job seeking. Lots of things has been developed as mobile application model and listed in the Google App store or Apple App Store. Today, you will be not surprise that almost everyone's phone has installed ten or more small applications. Mobile applications is very easy to use and simple, also it is connected with WIFI Internet which is more convenient to take away than traditional desktop or laptop. Mobile computing and mobile application also face several major challenges when project team develops. The first important challenge is the short development life cycle. Compare to traditional software product, mobile application development is updating much much much fast and changeable since the cell phones renew and update very often. Think about iPhone development history, since 2007 to now (2015), eight years, iphone, iphone 3G, iphone 3GS, iphone 4, iphone 4s, iphone 5, iphone 5c, iphone 5s, iphone 6, iphone 6s, ten iphone different versions! This is just one brand change, if we think about all brands update in the world, how crazy the speed of the mobile technology is! Behind the fast development and short life cycle, the security risks and the code defects exist in the mobile applications. They are also challengingly for the mobile development and mobile computing. What are some of the promises of mobile computing and mobile applications to the enterprise? Some of the promises of mobile computing and mobile applications to the enterprise are mobility, easy to use, simple, reliability, stable updates and high security protection. These promises are essential to the enterprise for their business purposes. Mobility is one of the most advantages for enterprise mobile applications. A simple and easy mobile application is also very vital for users for quick involvements. Today, mobile applications and mobile computings are working and integrating with cloud services, software services, or office suites. The integration function support is important as well. Innovation is another promise of mobile applications to enterprise. A good solution by mobile application can be creative and innovative to attract users for using and involvements. Sometimes, the customer needs may push mobile development more productive and creative for new things to satisfy the requirements. The innovation process is a learning process, also a good experience for mobile development. A successful mobile application and mobile computing service can effectively improve the enterprise work performance, expand their business marketing opportunities and increase their sales as well. What are some of the challenges organizations face with mobile computing and mobile applications? Mobile computing is a technology that transfer the data, video, voice through a computer or wireless enabled device without a physical link. The challenges for the mobile computing and mobile appliscations are mobility, portability, security. Mobility is good for users to move wireless computer casually but is also increase some problems. One is that changes the static information to dynamic information. For the stationary computer which is link to the prefer nearest server, but for the wireless computer it needs to decided which server is the best to connect. As the volatility increase, the cost budget needs to expand on the designing appropriate modification mechanism to solve the dynamic information increased. The security problem increased with the mobility. There is only one physical link to stationary computer make sure the only one access from Internet to computer. It can be very easy to monitor the computer. But if the critical data are saved at the wireless device, many hackers can access to the computer through multiple network access points. Portability is every important for the wireless device. The stationary computer can't be move everywhere. So the wireless product should be with less power usage, small, appropriate space, less heat dissipation. Portability still challenges every mobile device company. From phone we can see that the big screen can give users better experience about the mobile application. But power usage still a big challenge at present. For mobile application there is platform challenge. We know that IOS, Android are not compatible with each other. That means user can't any mobile application, only for the specified mobile applications. What are some of the promises of mobile computing and mobile applications to the enterprise? Now many enterprise start begin using the mobile computing and mobile application. Like bank, E-commerce, telephone company and so on. Those mobile applications based on the company bring a lot benefits to them. The promises from mobile computing and mobile applications are efficiency, real-time, reduce cost. Efficiency is one of biggest benefit from mobile computing and mobile applications. The redundant works can be streamline operations. Customers can access to the service at anytime and anywhere via mobile applications. This realtime communication way promote the customer's satisfy about enterprise's service. For the enterprise, it will attract more customers. Reduce cost is another critical promise from mobile computing and mobile applications. Enterprise uses the mobile techniques can reduce the quantity of employers. Many works can be streamline operation and customer self-service. References Forman, G. H., & Zahorjan, J. (1994, April).
