The Hebrews trace their origin to Abraham and they are believers in one god (monotheistic).Abraham had departed from the Mesoptamian city- state of Ur and relocated to the land of Canaan. In Canaan, it is believed that he had a son with his maid-servant, haggar and their son's name was Ishmael. During the time he had a son with his maid, he also had another son with his wife, their son was named Issac. Msulims actually trace their origin to Abraham through Ishmael but all religions, Judaism, Christianity and Islam all based their founding father as Abraham. The present day Israel shares a common language and culture with the founding father Abraham. The Hebrews have a belief that during the forty year journey of exodus from captivity, that a covenant was made between their people and Yahweh who was known as the Sinai Covenant. This covenant stated the Hebrews were to stay faithful to Yahweh and his commands and for this, they would receive protection through all of the land of Canaan. (Early World History Interactive text, pg. 57 and page 58)King David was thought to have been a mythical king but it turns out that King David, was in fact one of the most powerful kings to have led the people of Israel. He had a son named Solomn who went on to build the first temple in Jerusalem. Solomn was his father's successor and he looked over several projects in the kingdom. The year 586 BCE denotes a defining moment throughout the entire existence of the region. From this year on, the area was constrained by a progression of super power of those such as Persians, Babylonians, Greeks, Islamic and Christian following and the British Empire. The Babylonian captivity is the time in Jewish history during which various individuals from the old Kingdom of Judah were hostages in Babylonia. The constrained detainment of Jews in Babylonia following the last's success of the realm of Judah in 598/7 and 587/6 BCE. The bondage officially finished in 538 BCE, when the Persian vanquisher of Babylonia, Cyrus the Great, gave the Jews consent to come back to Palestine.I believe one of the greatest contributions made by the Jewish people in early history was when Judaism presented the possibility of a solitary divinity who was actually associated with the everyday life of a specific gathering of individuals. Not with that said, , Jews were not actually monotheistic first and foremost. They were all the more precisely henotheistic in light of the fact that, however they venerated only one god, they recognized the presence of others. Also, the scriptures in which deemed the tales of the beginnings of life, the lessons of the prophets, and God's laws are the most significant commitment Judaism made to Christianity. These two things were the backbone to Judaism and the light that was the shrine of the Jewish people.ReferencesConnie Brand, Angela Feres, Jasonn Hawke, Susan Maneck, Keith Sisson, & Sean Perrone. RE: SOCW6361- Discussion: Analyses of Social Problems in Case Studies (WK3)
As a social worker, often you need to use your policy advocacy skills to ensure that your clients are receiving the services that they need. Although you may tend to think of policy advocacy skills as separate from your clinical social work skills, they are very similar. Think of the skills that you would use in working with a client such as Jake Levy. How could you apply these skills to policy advocacy? How will you use these skills to identify the policy and social problems that are impacting these families? In this week's Discussion, you will continue to follow the Levy, Bradley, Petrakis, and Cortez families to start the process of policy advocacy. In this Discussion, select one of the four integrated videos and identify the problems experienced by the client(s). Post your responses to the following: (Use subheadings and 1 additional APA peer reviewed reference and be detailed in response.) (Jake Levy is client. Use sub-heading, be detailed in response and use 1 additional APA reference) Who is defining the problem? What values are reflected in this definition of the problem? What is being omitted in this definition? What other problems do you see that are not being acknowledged?
