No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
COMPLETE: Your opinion paragraphs are to be posted at least 1-day before the due date.
CRITICAL INFORMATION:Your OPINION ESSAY needs to post no later than 1-day before the expiration date to avoid a -5 penalty. Five (5) points will be deducted from your overall score if you post your work on the last day this assignment is due.
************************
We are over half-way through the term. Can you believe it?!! Our discussion board assignment will be a bit different than the past six chapters. This time we will be delving deeply what Chapters 7 & 8 begs which is: critical thought -- critical opinion -- and open channels of communication. This assignment is broken into (4) Assignments detailed below. I also provided a “Snapshot Instruction.” Please be sure to read this discussion board assignment carefully and fully.
HERE IS A SNAPSHOT(#1 - #8) IN HOW TO COMPLETE CHS 7/8 DISCUSSION BOARD ASSIGNMENT:
1) Watch the video (link is below under ASSIGNMENT #1). This is ASSIGNMENT #1
2) Write notes, preferably using Cornell Format or Mind Mapping methods while watching the video. You do not have to include your note-taking with this assignment. This is also part of ASSIGNMENT #1
3) Write your OPINION ESSAY by infusing each of the 5 questions, provided below for you in ASSIGNMENT #2. Rich, full, and collegiate work is expected. This is ASSIGNMENT #2
4) PROOF YOUR WORK CAREFULLY BEFORE SUBMITTING YOUR FINAL PAPER IN DISCUSSION BOARD. STUDENTS MUST SUBMIT THEIR WORK IN ASSIGNMENT TOOLS, TOO. YOUR PAPER WILL NOT BE GRADED IF YOU DO NOT POST IN BOTH DISCUSSION BOARD AND ASSIGNMENT TOOLS. Please remember that the plagiarism system called TURNITIN, is active in the IDS 109 course. Again, there is a -5 penalty if you post your work in Discussion Board on the last day this assignment is due. This is ASSIGNMENT #2 & ASSIGNMENT #4.
5) Citations are needed if using outside references. You do not have to follow the strict APA or MLA or Chicago, etc, when citing via formality, but you do need to cite where you retrieved any work that is not your own words. Be aware that this assignment is asking students to use "few" citations, rather the majority of your work is to be YOUR OWN viewpoints/opinions. Again, TurnitIn (a plagiarism feature) is activated in IDS 109. If a paper is red flagged in Turnitin, the College will ask that the student support the work. If it is determined not to be the student's wholly original work, then plagiarism rules will be put in place. Rules for plagiarism are found in the Course Syllabus. Please know that plagiarizing is a serious offense; it is stealing others intellectual property and is not tolerated at Trident Technical College as the College’s bylaws convey. Also realize that Turnitin allows instructors to to track a students paper trail. Please be sure the written work submitted is original and cite, when necessary. This is also part of ASSIGNMENT #2.
6) Post your paper in Discussion Board & Assignment Tools as soon as possible. To avoid a -5-pts penalty post early and definitely before the last day. If posted on the last day a -5 will be imposed. Reason for this penalty is to help safeguard time for peers to read each others discussions/opinions and provide an easier ability to respond back and forth with each other. Also, please remember DO NOT POST A LINK of your written work in Discussion Board. Links posted in Discussion Board will NOT be graded. This is also part of ASSIGNMENT #2.
7) Dialogue with peers should be rich, collegiate, and respectful even when writing "to the point" or "with passion." EXAMPLE NOT TO DO: A brief phrase, "I agree with you" or "I disagree with you" or "Good job" etc. That is not a mature collegiate dialogue. Please state why you agree or disagree, and be sure to back it up. This is part of ASSIGNMENT #3.
8) AGAIN: Don’t forget to post your OPINION ESSAY/PARAGRAPHS in ASSIGNMENT TOOLS. Unlike Discussion Board, for Assignment Tools (AT) you can post a Link (Example: Upload as a Word.doc.- Word.doc is all you can use -- no WPS or Google.doc -- only Word.doc or PDF as a link upload ). To copy/paste in Assignment Tool, upload your document from Word. Here are directions to post your Word.doc or PDF into ASSIGNMENT TOOLS: To upload your document, click ADD FILE in ASSIGNMENTS. Must be in Word.doc or a PDF (that is all it will take -- it will not take WPS or Google.doc). Open your Word.doc that holds your IDS 109 Project. Discussion paper. Click on that Word.doc's file name. Once you do that you will see it at the bottom of your SAVED DOCUMENTS and to the far right you will click "OPEN" in your SAVED DOCUMENTS. Once you click "OPEN" it will then upload to your ASSIGNMENT TOOLS page. This is ASSIGNMENT #4.
