Northeastern University Research & PPT
Research PresentationYou will submit a ~15-minute presentation of your initial literature review and proposal idea as a precursor to your final paper+ Research ProposalYou will write a ~15-page, double-spaced, 12-pt font research proposal paper covering any topic relevant to the course. This should be a topic that interests you most, so I am generally flexible as long as there is peer-reviewed research published in the area. The paper must adhere to proper APA formatting and style guidelines. Focus on the general criteria discussed below.General structure of the Research Proposal Paper:o Title page: A decent, descriptive title, and all other information required for APA format.o Abstract:A synopsis of your paper.o Introduction: This section of the paper is essentially equivalent to an Introduction section of the many published research papers you have read. Start with a bang. Pose the topic that interests you and include a comprehensive literature review. Introduce the major theoretical and empirical support for the topic you are covering. Generally, you should focus on the most up-to-date research in the area. This means that the majority of your references should have been published within the last five to ten years, though it is acceptable to include some older references when necessary. This part of the paper should be about 8-10 pages in length.o ResearchProposal:Towards the end of your paper, you will sketch out a new empirical way to resolve one or more of the issues you’ve raised in your paper. Include your empirical question(s), hypotheses, and proposed methods and materials for conducting your hypothetical study. This part of the paper should be about 2-4 pages in length.o References:You can expect to reference approximately 20 peer-reviewed academic articles for this paper. This may vary slightly depending on your topic. You may only use peer- reviewed academic journal articles. Unacceptable sources include online news articles, textbooks, and non-governmental websites
