Describe the FOIL method.  Is it always necessary to follow the FOIL method when multiplying two binomials?  Why or why not? 

2. Multiplying many binomialsHow many terms result from multiplying out the product of two binomials?  What about for the product of three binomials?  How about for N binomials?

3.Degree of a polynomialWe call polynomials of degree 1 “linear, and those of degree 2 “quadratics”.  What do we call polynomials of degree 3, 4 or 5?  If we multiply a degree-n polynomial by a degree-m polynomial, what is the degree of the resulting polynomial?  Justify your answer.

4.From the concepts in the readings from Week One, provide at least one real-world application of algebraic concepts as applied to one of the following areas:  business, health and wellness, science, geometry or other math concepts, or sports. Did you have any difficulty with this activity? Explain why or why not.
