The contemporary society is at a constant threat from increasing criminal activities such
as theft, drug and gang related activities among others. Some states have extended further to
strengthening their state laws so as to discriminate criminals who engage in additional criminal
acts once they are free from prisons. Three strikes law is one state law that ensures criminals
receive harsh punishments especially when they are caught in a second or third criminal activity
(Siegel and Worrall, 2014). The law mostly applies to offenders convicted of other felonies prior
to the currents ones. Nevertheless this criminal law is harsh and unfavorable to the society as it
does no fully curb criminal activities only it prevents criminals from striking the society. This
paper reviews reasons as to why the three strikes law is not the best and most effective law in a
society.
