For a new freshman, effective reading is essential in
learning as well as remembering information studied
during a session. A student may have a good schedule;
good study methods as well as motivation but by the end of
a study session if effective reading skills are not employed
then most of the information that is important will be lost.
While reading a student should focus on the key points
from a topic, objectives to be understood as well as the
importance of the topic (Moss and Brookhart, 2012). This
will ensure that a student does not waste the set time for
studied on irrelevant materials.
During studying a student should
engage in note taking so as to
memorize what is being learnt. Also
one can use graphic organizers as a
way of organizing what is learnt from
a study session so as to remember.
