Description

A local company needs an order-entry system to be developed so that it can effectively manage the increasing growth in customer base and related orders. In a recent discussion with a consultant, the company was told about two-tier and n-tier architectures, but it is unsure what the best option for its system is. The company knows that it needs to be able to support code reusability, and it seeks to be able to eventually use the database in a data warehouse.

      • Business logic
      • Data layer
    • Give 2 design solutions for the system
      • Build a case as to why you recommend one solution over the other.
  • Be sure to reference all sources using APA style.

N-Tiered System Design
According to Coulouris (2011), a distributed system is made of networked computers working
together in coordinated manner by means of passing messages. How the computers are layered in
the network depends on the architecture used. In this case n tier architecture will be used. An N
tier architecture involves splitting a system into N tiers where N is any is number from 1
onwards (Jencov, 2014) .In this design 3 tiered architecture will be used and there will be three
categories of computers; client, server and data. The client computers will form the presentation
tier while server and data computers will form the logic and data tier respectively.
Presentation Layer
This tier is made of client computers and is designed to capture user inputs and give outputs.
This tier is dumb as it makes no decisions (Jencov, 2014). This layer will have the forms
necessary to ca...
