EEC 211: Inclusion Interview Project 25 points I would like you to explore the issues and attitudes held by individuals who interact with individuals with disabilities on a regular basis. To accomplish this, you will select one person to interview about this topic. The information that you collect will be compiled in a PowerPoint presentation to your peers and uploaded to D2L. Purposes:     To inform the class of current issues about inclusion in K-12 settings. To inform the class of the range of attitudes held by stakeholders about inclusion in K-12 settings. To provide an opportunity for those seeking future employment to converse with potential future employers. To gain specific information about strategies and adaptations for students with disabilities. Details: 1. Identify the types of individuals to whom you could ask the questions (e.g. regular education teachers, special education teachers, administrators, parents). 2. Generate a set of unbiased open-ended interview questions about inclusion. I recommend that you review our course objectives to help inform your questions. Next, narrow down and refine your interview questions. The intent of this assignment is not an in-depth ethnography, it is meant to be a short (10-15 minute) interview or discussion. 3. Conduct the interviews and develop a PowerPoint presentation in which you present your findings. This is a very openended assignment.    Include the name of the person you interviewed and his/her role in working with youth with disabilities. Include the questions you asked. Present the information you feel is significant/interesting/worth sharing. 6. By the due date (see Course Calendar), submit the PowerPoint presentation to D2L/Assignments folder labeled ‘Interview PowerPoint Presentation’. Be prepared to present to the class. Full points awarded Name of the person you interviewed and his/her role in working with youth with disabilities is delineated. Most questions are about issues related to inclusion Slides contain “big ideas”. Presenter talks through the aspects of the interview that he/she felt were significant Partial points awarded Name of the person you interviewed and his/her role in working with youth with disabilities unclear. Few questions were related to inclusion Slides contain lengthy paragraphs. Presenter reads interviewee’s responses. No points awarded Name of the person you interviewed and his/her role in working with youth with disabilities missing. No questions were about inclusion. Slides not prepared. Presenter in unprepared to present findings from the interview. Notes:   Please do not interview any college professors for this project. If you do not get much information from the person you interviewed either ask follow up questions or select someone else to interview.
