A global mind is important for executives because we live in a global economy. According to Buechel (n.d) “
1.Acting on opportunities, using close friends and solving problems despite cultural challenges
2.Effectively communicating across global/local demands
3.Formal and informal best practice sharing
4.Acting on emerging opportunities
5.Building trust across cultural settings”.
Travel: I would travel to the place often and learn about their culture, traditions and people. It is important to respect other cultures and customs.
Teams: I would learn about the different cultures in US by forming diverse teams and conversing about culture and values
Training: I would read books about the country’s culture and learn about them.
Transfers: According to Carpenter and Sanders (2008) “The most effective though most expensive tactic for developing global leaders is the actual transfer of individuals to foreign assignments. Such expatriate assignments tend to be most effective because they typically force individuals to become immersed in the local culture”.
