Visher and Visher (1979, 1991) discuss six structural differences between the traditional first marriage family and the stepfamily. For each of the structural differences listed below, speculate what may be the potential difficulties, advantages, and feelings associated with that difference.

1. Almost all the members in a stepfamily have lost an important primary relationship.

a) Potential difficulties:

because of the lost relationship that person may have difficulty trying to not compare their past relationship meaning he/she may have trust issues if they were in a relationship where honesty was an issue now he/she can't trust their partner.

b) Potential advantages:

preparing yourself for the worst ,so you won't have an unexpected outcome. They will already know what to look for.
