Introduction
The healthcare system consists of various stakeholders. The stakeholders have numerous
roles they play and have objectives they always seek to achieve to enhance efficiency in healthcare
delivery. The stakeholders have a connection among each other that comes about as they play their
parts. This essay considers a U.S. system of health care to pinpoint stakeholders, from both public
and private sectors, and their competing goals. It addresses the link and competing parts of concern
every shareholder has.
Stakeholders and their Competing Goals in U.S. Healthcare System
Patients
Patients are customers in the healthcare system. They are the recipients of the services
physicians give (Saint Joseph's University, 2017). They are consumers in the Medicare system and
are usually customers to doctors. Patients have social responsibilities, rights, and duties in the
healthcare system. They have right to access medical care, and it is their duty to be responsible for
their well-being. Therefore, patients' goal is to have access to quality and affordable health care.
Physicians
Physicians can also be classified as employees since they are paid for medical services they
offer to patients. They provide health care to patients, who are also recipients. Physicians are
