The theme of individualism in the contemporary art is portrayed by bearing the
inscription of the character and personality of the artist who has created that art, which
reaffirm the originality of the art. Emile Zola is one of the supporters of the individualis m ,
autonomy and originality in contemporary art. Originality means the work stands out from
the rest of the art. Autonomous means it is not submissive to any other social function.
Individualism of art protects the rights of the artist to express his or her exclusive artistic
vision. Individualism supports that the art should best serve the artistic genius and
originality expectations. It can be placed in city square or church, and people can assess
and please from it and it should not have the sole purpose of fulfilling the social goals or
beauty expectations of society. Michelangelo is the best example which portray ed the
individuality, originality and autonomy expectations because it is not submissive to the
