I have an experience where I browsed the web for Apple products and from there on, search engines such as Google and Amazon have been presenting me with ads relevant to Apple products. My concerns about sharing the information: I have no any concern provided that the websites collect relevant and general information. Doing this they will be presenting me with relevant ads (Acquisti, 2013). How my views have changed: I think that websites should take considerable measures to protect our privacy depending on how they use the information they collect concerning my browsing behavior. Further, it is important that websites that collect our private information to post such privacy policies and be bound by them. Week 4 Discussion Board My Experiences: Rubrics & Grading Criteria My Grades A lot of websites and all E-Commerce websites ask for your credit or debit card details. That itself is a sensitive information and along with that they also ask for our personal information like full name and address. I feel very uncomfortable doing that, but there is no other way to buy stuff or do transactions online. I gave my card details on a lot of websites now. Someone stole my details from one of them and made some purchases both in the US and in South Africa. Faculty Contact Email I have phone alerts activated on my bank account for every purchase made using my cards. As soon as I got the purchase alert, I called the bank and blocked all my account and got new cards issued. Tools Library Blackboard Help Online Tutoring Other experience is that many of the application I download on my phone ask for access to my photos, contacts, and files, and also my location. Which I feel very uncomfortable. If it is a weather application then I can understand the purpose, but other applications do not need my location. I do not like being monitored and I do not feel comfortable giving full access to my photos and files. We come across a lot of incidents like photos, contacts, and personal information being stolen.
