Each of us has our own way of dealing with conflict. However, our Conflict Negotiation Style (pdf) might not be the most effective method of resolving a problem. This assignment asks you to describe the verbal communication and nonverbal communication for each conflict negotiation style – accommodation, avoidance, collaboration, competition, and compromise Imagine the following situation with YOU as the employee:
You were expecting a pay increase at work, but then you learned that a coworker who has less time on the job than you received a pay increase, and you did not. (Note: In this case the conflict is with your boss, not the other employee...it's not their fault that they received the raise and you didn't.)
For each of the five Styles of Conflict Negotiation, provide descriptions of your verbal communication AND nonverbal communication.

When it comes to negotiation through accommodation, my approach verbally will be to
talk to my boss directly and my non-verbal communication will be expression of dissatisfaction
with him/her not keeping his/her promise to me and even raising the perk for an employer who
delivers lesser than I do. I won’t be very confrontational but request the favor that was due to me
be fulfilled.
When it comes to using the avoidance method, I will not talk to him a lot especially
regarding the matter and I will avoid eye contact at all possible costs. I will even try to look for a
job placement in another company to avoid him/her altogether.
When it comes to collaboration with my boss, not much will be achieved but I can agree
to take a lesser pay rise compared to what he/she had promised earlier...
