Socialization is the method by which latest hires in the organization develop the
knowledge, attitude, and behaviors entailed to have a hand in as a representative of the
organization productively. (VanMaanen & Schein, 1979). The process of socialization affects
how a new employee engages as a new member of an organization as it is associated with
how they respond to situations and relate with other employees at the company. Three phases
comprise the socialization process including anticipatory socialization, encounter, and
settling. Anticipatory socialization takes place even before the new employee joins the
organization. During the initial interactions with the company’s representatives, the new
employee acquires expectations and anticipations regarding the job and the organization in
advance before joining it. The encounter is when, upon entry and commencement of the job,
the new worker start to understand the role and tasks of the new job, while settling in the new
hire starts to have a sense of comfort with the demand of the job and the interactions in the
office environment. They start expressing interest in the assessment of their work and
exploring other career progression prospects in the organization (Organizational entry, 2006).
However, problems may arise as the new employee encounters and settle in their new job.
There may be poor communication or understanding of the role and its responsibilities, or
differences between the role and how its advertisement, and weak coordination between the
