DESCRIPTION:

In this article, BBC notes that the shooting of an Austrian was

the major cause of war. However, the author notes that this was not the only cause. Rather,
there were four other causes of this war. In this regard, Nationalism, which was a belief in
some countries being better than others created aggressiveness and assertiveness. Germany’s
imperialism, or the desire to conquer other nations, played among the leading roles.
Additionally, militarism, or the race for arms as was evident in Germany and Japan, heavily
contributed to war between nations. Finally, BBC also blames the division of Europe into two
alliances led to the dragging of the whole region into war as nations came in to help their
allies.
