The advancement of technology has been experienced almost in every field in the modern
world and significantly distorted every aspect of our lives. Advancement of technology has
greatly influenced the many uses of the internet. From its first commissioning in 1969 by the U.S
government with the aim of creating a network to allow researchers to communicate with each
others’ computer, the internet has grown and advanced over a hundred times since then. In the
modern world, the internet is a public facility that is self-sustaining and cooperative and hence is
accessible to over hundreds of millions people all over the world. The internet has revolutionized
the way people communicate and interact with each other (Chesebro, McMahan & Russett,
2014). This is due to the fact that it has redefined or reshaped most of the traditional
communication methods such as radio, television, telegram, paper mails and telephone.
The internet has resulted in the birth of new modern ways of communication such as
email, digital newspapers, internet telephone, and video streaming websites such as YouTube
and social media platforms such as Twitter. These new ways of communication have resulted in
both efficiency and effectiveness due to factors such as high-speed regarding access and
response, cost friendly, flexibility and reliability. The internet has changed communication in the
sense that communication in the modern the world is not only limited to just family and friends.
