One of the differences between mitosis and meiosis occurs during cell division. In
mitosis, the somatic cell division occurs once. At the end of telophase is where the cytoplasm
divides. While in meiosis the reproductive cells divide twice. The cytokinesis process happens at
the end of telophase one and telophase two. The second difference is the number of daughter
cells. In mitosis two daughter cell are produces which are diploid and contain the same number
of chromosomes. In meiosis four daughter cells are produced where each cell is haploid. They
have a half number of chromosomes as that of the original cell (Marchetti, & Venkatachalam,
