Introduction
Yeasts are unicellular eukaryotic cells able of performing fermentation processes as a way
to obtain energy from the degradation of organic molecules like glucose. These
fermentation processes are commonly used in the food industry for the manufacturing of
alcoholic beverages since ethanol is produced as final product of the fermentation.
The general reaction taking place can be summarized as:
