Evaluation Criteria

 Task 1:

Case study work proposal submission on or before 16th April, 2017

Submit a work proposal for this assignment on or before, which must include:

 Understanding of deliverables – a detail description of deliverables

 General overview of proposed plan - initial understanding of solution to all the tasks

 Resources identified

Work proposal should be submitted in the form of word document in Moodle.

 Task 2:

Assignment report submission on or before 07th May, 2017

As a first step, you are asked to study mail communication systems across various platforms;

Review various key features of different platforms mail communication systems. You must do a

research based review of literature on various key features and propose your views based on your

study and critically analyze their merits and demerits to provide a detailed report. Note: The Task 2 report should not more than 5,000 words.

Note: Various platforms systems; it includes Open source mail communication systems and Closed

source mail communication systems.

Report should include:

Detailed literature review of the features (at-least four Literatures) of Mail communication server

Select published papers reference (preferably from the ACM DL or IEEE CSDL) that is discussing different

aspects of Mail communication server System. Summarize this paper in one page. The summary should

include the main ideas presented in the paper. The paper you select MUST NOT BE DISCUSSED BY

ANOTHER STUDENT.

Individual Case Study

General:

  • Originality of answer, i.e. writing in their own words with some amount of referenced material with
  • proper literature underpinning.

  • Oral examination: Your Assignment marks are based on the VIVA which will be conducted upon
  • submission of assignment. The VIVA will be based on the questions/tasks given in the assignment.

    ZERO mark will be awarded to the student if she / he is absent for VIVA.

  • Adequate referencing and citation provided.
  • Examples can be provided.
  • Task 3:

    Using virtual (VMVirtualBox) environment, evaluate technologies to support email server

    communication within an organization by implementing a test environment for email communication

    application with Exchange Server 2013.Your model should consist of a server and a client which

    should include the application based and web based client access support. The report should include

    installation steps and configuration steps of exchange server and in two different independent

    Operating systems for server and client. Ensure the client server communication between exchange

    server and client via email transfer.

    A viva exam will be conducted on 10th academic week in which technical questions related to the

    implementation will be asked. Students need to be well aware about their respective implementations

    and mail communication server administration concepts as questions may cover the holistic view of

    mail communication. All tasks will be assessed based on viva. Zero Marks will be awarded if the

    student is absent for viva.

    Note: You should have the basic knowledge for troubleshooting the system in case of any errors.

    The report (Task 3) should be submitted as a hard copy at the time of Viva-voce exam.

    Note: Viva is compulsory; no marks will be awarded to task 2 & task 3 without viva.

    Guidelines:

     Assignment should be typed and uploaded to Moodle and will undergo plagiarism detection test through Turnitin (a plagiarism detection tool).  Handwritten assignments will not be accepted.

     Assignment should have a Title Page. Title Page should contain the following information.

     Assignment Name

     Class

     Student name

     Student ID

     It should have "Table of Contents"

     Use page numbers.

     Assignment should be typed in your own words using Times New Roman font size 12.

     Heading should be with Font Size 14, Bold and Underlined.

     Use Diagrams and Examples to explain your topic.

     Copy paste from the Internet is strictly not acceptable.

     Reference should be included in the last page as follows

     Author name, Book Title, Publisher, Year in case of books as per “Harvard citation style”.

     In case of web site references type the full path of the web page with referenced date

     In case of magazines/ periodicals type article name, magazine name, Issue Number and date Rules & Regulations

     If any topic or diagram of an assignment is found copied from the others then marks will be deducted

    from both assignments.

     Assignments with 3 or more identical topics will be awarded 0 Marks.

     The purpose of assignment is to do some research work so you can consult books in Library or use internet or computer magazines or any other source.
