Description
Job analysis based on job, worker or, a hybrid analysis, relates to what type of job is being analyzed (Levy, 2013). The approach, single or a combination, is decided by the analyst and the purpose of the analysis (Levy, 2013). Job-oriented analysis examines the various tasks of the job while worker-oriented analysis examines general human behavior related to job tasks and a hybrid approach studies both (Levy, 2013) Campion, Fink, Ruggeberg, Carr, Phillips, & Odman (2011) study job-oriented analysis by collecting information from employees that perform the tasks of the job. This allows the analysts to have a true picture of the job rather than what is described in a job description. In worker-oriented analysis, interviewing managers or top leaders, for example, examines behavior of managers and the thinking behind certain actions (Campion et al., 2011). Campion et al. cite “behavioral event interview” of McClelland (1998) to show worker-oriented analysis. Using a hybrid of both analyses gives a fuller picture of the tasks and behavior needed to perform a particular job. An example is how jobs are posted for individuals to apply for. Both the ideal behavioral characteristics and required job tasks are usually listed to encourage qualified individuals to apply. Please provide a 150-200 word response to the question and please use at least 1 reference.
