The world has millions of people and each and everyone has their own different and
unique cultures and traditions. I have come to realize that these norms and traditions are
acceptable in the society which comprises of different people with distinct characters. For
instance, I embrace the African culture in an American set up and experience some challenges
from other cultural groups such as European, Japanese, and Chinese among others. I only have to
adjust appropriately in my place of work and any social gathering where different cultures exist.

large part of African-American culture. I will also try to compare and contrast it with the
American culture and other diverse cultures. African-American culture is varied and manifold,
consisting of diverse ethnic groups, whose cultural components range from ceremonies and
festivals, rites of passage, modes of dressing, religion, cultural foods, beliefs and traditions
among others.

ethnic groups in Ethiopia and due to educational provisions by the American educational system,
we were to adopt the American English language. When we speak, we borrow much from my
native language and the American English language leading to a language with logical structure
though with little command of the standard American English. My family belongs to the Coptic
Church, which is Christianity. We believe in one God, spirits, saints and angels. During prayers,
