Ancient Greeks cooking involved the use of well-crafted cooking items. Unlike the
modern society that relies heavily on steel, aluminum, and plastic, ancient Greeks’ items were
made of clay. These products were carefully hand-crafted, and the finishing involved fire or
kiln use to harden the products. However, they comprised of a large variety of wares that
resemble the modern items such as pots, stoves, and saucepans. Many people were involved
in the making of these kitchen wares, and their roles varied on the basis of age and expertise.
In this case, the tactical tasks were reserved for the experts such as the potters and with the
younger generation helping on the lighter and general tasks (American School of Classical
Studies at Athens, 1977).
The foods for the ancient Greeks comprised mainly of cereals. Wheat and barley were
the most common in their land. The Greeks made flour from these cereals which were later
