If you have not already done so, view the Using a Direct Line of Questioning video clip —a counseling session with a young girl who has a bladder problem. While viewing the clip, pay particular attention to the counselor's mode of questioning. For this discussion, address the following:

  • Describe three developmental concerns (cognitive, social-emotional, and physical) that you would address regarding your approach with this young girl.
  • Describe a real or hypothetical case with a child who has a special concern or special need. Contemplate your approach to a first counseling session with this child.
  • Identify five issues you will address with your hypothetical client's parents in the first interview with them.
