John Fitzgerald Kennedy was the thirty-fifth president of the U.S.A, he served between
1961 and 1963. His aim was to achieve economic and social growth especially internationally.
He also aimed at eradicating communism that led to his use of military power to fight against it.
He believed that the U.S. had the ability and power to manage and control policies in the
international system (Brinkley, 2012). During his term, there was severe cold war. There was a
plan for the nuclear war on Cuba in which the ultimate aim was to attain a non-communist
government that would have good ties with the U.S.
The U.S. Government made diplomatic efforts to help handle the situation at that time.
The U.S. did not trust Fidel Castro who attained power through armed revolt removing Fulgencio
Batista from Cuban power, 1959. The relationship between Fidel Castro and the leader of the
Soviet Union worried the U.S. Therefore, the U.S. had to intervene and support the Cuban exiles
in their planned attack on their homeland (Robert, 1989). The U.S. Government had to brief
John F. Kennedy on their plans to overthrow Fidel Castro from power earlier before his
