Security Administration
Security administration is crucial in the daily operations of different organizations. The
success of the operations of the various institutions in the country is secured by the strict security
programs that prevent the malicious intentions of both internal and external security threats.
Airport security is particularly crucial in ensuring the safe traveling of people to and fro the
different destinations within and outside the country. As such, the provision of air-tight security
at all major airports has been the primary role of the Transport Security Administration (TSA)
(Thomas, 2008). The government agency is tasked with ensuring the security of air travel in all
airports in the country. A review of the operational analysis of TSA in John F. Kennedy Airport
shows that efficient planning has gone into the security program. TSA could, however, apply
significant changes to its operations to make JFK Airport more secure.
Program Analysis
JFK Airport is one of the largest airports in the country, and it is located in New York
City in the neighborhood of Jamaica, Queens. The airport is the fifth busiest in the country and
the busiest international passenger gateway into North America. The airport is a key business
hub and a major security concern in the air-travel business. The base for American Airlines and
Delta Airlines could be a major terrorist target, judging from the busy frequency of operations
and how busy the airport is (Berrick, 2009). The security detail for the airport security is
primarily run by TSA, and the institution employs its security detail to work alongside the
Transport Security Administration. The airport management is keen on analyzing security
threats, screening passengers and applying measures that help to reduce the risk of security
breach and attacks.
