Please write a comment on those 3 of my classmates' posts Is this a good example, Are you agree or not and why? First student Andrew: The Appeal to Irrelevant Authority fallacy is one that is used a lot in media and by politicians when trying to sell something to their audience. The fallacy goes something like this Person B claims to be an authority on subject C, Person B then goes on to claim that D about subject C, and therefore the claim D is to be true. When I first started my job I would do this all the time and continue to do this on occasion. I work as a salesmen for power equipment in which I knew nothing about but customers would believe pretty much anything I said because I worked there and would speak with confidence. As a salesmen unless you truly educate yourself on what you sell, then this fallacy will apply to you. Second student Dominique: The one time I used appeal to irrelevant authority fallacy was when I used to play basketball for my team. My dad would always be on the sideline yelling and trying to tell us what to do so I told him he should coach a team because he is a distraction. So he decided to coach a team the next year and they weren't to good. He realized he was a better fan than coach and should just sit down and enjoy the game. Third student Madison: I work at a pool where a lot of people just love to argue with other people. There is one man who comes into the pool a few times a week and if he sees anyone, of all ages, water jogging in a lap swimming lane, he gets mad and yells at them. The pool policy is that if there is no room in the diving well for water jogging, water joggers can use a lap swimming lane which is the case a lot when he chooses to come in. We are a busy pool sadly. He seems to believe that he can kick those people out because an old manager from years ago said that he could, a manager that is no longer working at the pool and definitely was not the pool policy expert. Yet this man still claims every time he comes into the pool that he was given this authority and right to force people out of the pool. We argue with him every time he comes in and every time he claims this manager told him this one thing at one time and he now can do whatever he likes. Even the overhead pool contractor told him he was in the wrong, the person who let the manager go (not over this incident) and made the pool policies, and he still feels he has the authority to argue when he really is just committing an illogical fallacy.

ANDREW: 1ST STUDENT
First of all, the definition given to The Appeal to an Irrelevant Authority Fallacy or known as
Appeal to the False Fallacy is very true. According to me, Andrew’s example at his first job is a
good example of the Fall...
