Lack of quality management, however, can cause an entire project to fail if the final project deliverables do not meet customer expectations and standards. Implementing quality assurance throughout the project improves overall performance of tasks and minimizes the risk of nonacceptance at the end of the project. In this course, you are asked to develop a Quality Management Integration Plan that allows you to select and integrate quality management tools, models, and techniques in the overall performance of the project. You will select a project that you may have developed in a previous class or a known project in an organization to create this plan for. Throughout this course, you will be working on developing several components of final Key Assignment. Additional information and the deliverables for each Individual Project will be provided in the assignment description for this project. In this first Individual Project, you are asked to develop the outline of the sections that will be included in the Quality Management Integration Plan document and a draft of a proposal to submit to your instructor. The other information you will include is a high-level description of the project that you will be developing a quality implementation strategy for. You will also be setting up the Final Key Assignment outline that you will add to each week. The combined Individual Project (IP) assignments will be your final Key Assignment deliverable. Project Selection The first step will be to select a project that you to develop a Quality Management Integration Plan for. This project will be used as the basis for each of the assignments throughout the course and should conform to the following guidelines: 1. 2. Nontrivial: The selected project candidate should reflect a real-life project. Domain knowledge: You will be applying knowledge of this project to address assignments related to quality management, integration, and performance. Select a project that fits these requirements, and submit your proposal to your instructor before proceeding further with the assignments in the course. Approval should be sought within the first few days of the course. Your instructor will tell you how to submit this proposal and what notification will be given for project approval. Assignment Your first task in this process will be to select a project to use as the basis of your Key Assignment. You will also create the shell document for the final project Key Assignment document deliverable that you will be working on throughout the course. As you proceed through each project phase, you will add content to each section of the final document to progressively complete the final project delivery which is the Quality Management Integration Plan. The project deliverables are as follows: • • Submit the project proposal to your instructor for approval Quality Management Integration Plan o Use Word o Title page ▪ Course number and name ▪ Project name ▪ Your name ▪ Date o Table of Contents (TOC) ▪ Use an autogenerated TOC. ▪ This should be on a separate page. ▪ This should be a maximum of 3 levels deep. ▪ Be sure to update the fields of the TOC so that it is up-to-date before submitting your project. o Section Headings (create each heading on a new page with “TBD” as content, except for Week 1) ▪ Week 1: Project Outline ▪ Week 1: Organizational Readiness for Quality Management ▪ Week 1: Quality Systems Analysis ▪ Week 2: Quality Dimensions and Criteria ▪ Week 3: Quality Process Improvement Tools and Techniques ▪ Week 4: Quality Performance Monitoring and Control ▪ Week 5: Three Levels of Quality Management ▪ Week 5: Quality Performance Communication Plan Create the following sections for Week 1: • • • • Project Outline o Include a brief description of the project. o Describe the overall project deliverables. o Material can be taken from the approved proposal that you submitted to the instructor. This may serve as the draft for the proposal. o Be sure that this project is approved by the instructor. Organizational Readiness for Quality Management o Discuss which quality systems the organization employs today. o Discuss the organization's readiness to incorporate in the selected project. o Include additional support that might be required to incorporate quality management (e.g., a knowledgeable quality champion). Quality Systems Analysis o Discuss the pros and cons of at least 3 quality systems (e.g., ISO 9000, Six Sigma, plan-do-checkact or plan-do-study-act, capability maturity model integration [CMMI], organizational project management maturity model [OPM3], Malcolm Baldrige). o Identify which one or combination is most appropriate for this project, and discuss why. Name the document "LastName_FirstName_MPM357_IP1.doc." Type: Individual Project Unit: Key Quality Dimensions Due Date: Wed Grading Type: Numeric Points Possible: 100 Points Earned: 0 Deliverable Length: 600–1,200 words of new content View objectives for this assignment Assignment Description Assignment For this assignment, you will specify what the quality dimension is specific to the projects overall deliverable and the overall criteria that you will use to measure each of the quality dimensions that you researched in the Discussion Board. Your next task is to fill in the project relevant pieces of information in Columns 2 and 3 for each quality dimensions. For the compilation of your quality dimension criteria, you may use a matrix similar to the following table: Deliverables The overall project deliverables are the following: • • Update the Key Assignment Document title page with new date and document name. Update the previously completed sections based on the instructor's feedback. o Create Quality Dimensions and Criteria section, and add it to the Quality Management Integration Plan shell. ▪ Construct a matrix similar to the example. ▪ • Fill in Column 2 with refined information that you first explored in this week’s Discussion Board. ▪ Fill in Column 3 with how you will measure or determine how each of the dimensions has been satisfied. ▪ Column 4 is a placeholder for when the quality assurance tasks are performed. Name the document "LastName_FirstName_MPM357_IP2.doc." Type: Individual Project Unit: Tools, Models, and Techniques Due Date: Wed, Grading Type: Numeric Points Possible: 100 Points Earned: 0 Deliverable Length: 600–1,200 words of new content View objectives for this assignment Assignment Description Assignment For this assignment, you are expanding your focus of quality management by selecting 1 of the quality process improvement tools and techniques that you researched in the discussion board to incorporate in the Quality Management Integration Plan: • • Create the Quality Process Improvement Tools and Techniques section. o Identify which process improvement tool or technique you will included in your overall project plan. o Explain in detail how this will be implemented and what benefits or improvements you hope to achieve. o Discuss which processes will be impacted by the implementation of the tool or technique. o Include a sample artifact of how this will be implemented (e.g., a flow diagram or a Kanban card) Name the document "LastName_FirstName_MPM357_IP3.doc."

Project Outline
This project involves the development of Apple company web-based survey System. The
company requires a Web-based system that will enable it to get instance reviews from its users
about their products. It will enable the company conduct online survey and analyze the data to
give useful information that will help the company make an effective decision.

Overall Project Deliverables
The company requires all the administrative and legal matters to be completed before deploying
the System. It should be able to handle new customer registration and accounts management,
new questions and survey title set up, customer response validation, response analysis and give
comments based on the analysis results. All these deliverables need to be confirmed prior to
submitting the application to the organization.

Organizational Readiness for Quality Management
Currently, the company is using third party applications and other websites to conduct its survey. The
company is currently facing stiff competitions from its competitors e.g. Microsoft and Google. The
company, therefore, needs its own reliable applications that will help it reach its customers directly and
not through other intermediary organizations. Apple needs to have its own System which will be managed
by its own experts to ensure the integrity of the responses received from its customers. The company
needs an efficient and reliable System on which all the potential risks are known and documented.
Therefore, the company has decided that this System should be bounded by quality management
standards throughout its development. To support this, the company has hired a project manager who will
ensure all the procedures for quality management system are followed when developing the system. This
manager will play a crucial role in leading the team to meet all the organization objectives.

Quality Systems Analysis
It is a requirement that system analysts should be aware of all the driving factors that read to the
required objectives. They should realize that the overall commitments of the business to Total
Quality Management (TQM) will reflect the overall objectives of systems analysis and design.
There are various quality systems available and used for project management. They include
Sigma, Malcolm Bridge and PLAN-Do-Check (Task List, 2012). Each of the systems has its
own pros and cons. The systems can be used independently from each other or be combined to
provide the best results for the project.

Six Sigma
This is a top-down approach that was first developed by Motorola Company in the 1980s. It is
managed by professional and members who ranked using the martial arts ranking systems i.e.
Green Belts, Black Belts, and Master Black Belts. The ranks go with the number of times once
has worked on projects. It has changed the approach to quality management and hence most of
its principles are applied to system analysis projects. It helps system analysts to eliminate all the
defects in their processes, products, or services. This system is used to eliminate defects that are
no more 3.4 defects per million opportunities. It uses both the DMAIC and DMADV
methodologies to attain its goals. These two methodologies involves definition, measurement,
analysis, and control processes (Juran, 2016)

One advantage of using Six Sigma is that it has high ROI for big companies that can afford to
invest on Master Black Belt. This guarantees strong frameworks and lean processes which save
companies a lot of money.
On the other hand, Six Sigma is a very rigid system and has high demands and this counts as one
of its cons. Since apple is a big and strong company that requires perfection, Six Sigma approach
is a suitable choice for the company.

Baldrige Malcolm
This model is adopted by many companies to help them improve their overall performance and
processes. This framework supports organization customers, management, strategic planning,
workforce and the operations. The framework is customizable for each individual organization
and projects. Through this framework, organizations are able to evaluate their performance and
make changes where necessary in order to attain the expected results.
Baldrige Model is well known for providing Quality Awards and national wide support. This
model is flexible enough to be implemented into any size of a business and provide the required
solutions.
Some Advantages of Baldrige Malcolm system includes having sufficient rooms to adapt the
framework and leave more rooms for unrefined processes. It is not meant for specific systems
and hence opportunities are available to all managements including the less experienced.
Baldrige Models will hence be followed in the development of Apple Web-based Survey system
by focusing on leadership, customers in the market, strategic planning, analysis, measurements
workforce focus, processes management, knowledge management, and the final results(Business
Management, 2016). This model allows the system to be broken to down into sub-sections that

can be modeled individually and then combined to form the main system that performs the
expected function.

Plan-Do-Check-Act
Plan-Do-Check-Art is also known as Deming Cycle due to its repeated steps over and over to provide a
continuous cycle of improvement. It has four steps cycle namely; Plan, Do, Check, Act. The plan
indicates the first step which involves beginning of change or a new project. The second step is Do. It
involves testing the change and carrying it out on a small scale. Check is the third step and involves
reviewing and analyzing the test. This step provides beneficial information that helps the project to run
as smoothly. This information will also indicate what need to be refined. The last step is Act and refers to
the actions where the project is implemented. The cycle repeats itself to find the most efficient way of
completing the project (Plan-Do-Check-Act, 2012). One of this model ...
