The inpatient treatment is where; a patient is taken care of, and provided with a full-time
care in a facility. The treatment includes the psychiatric and physical assistance. This type of
therapy requires the patients to remain in the service for some months or more. This kind of
facility requires various procedures before being allowed into this treatment. Outpatient, on the
other hand, is where the patients do not have to stay in a facility, but the patient meets with
his/her doctor some times. Like every week for some hours at a given period. This type of
treatment is mainly practiced by those who go to school or those who have to work.
According to Broom, (2014), the inpatient treatment is the best and gives better
outcomes. It has a favorable atmosphere which is well structured for the patient. This type of
environment will, therefore, make the patient forget about having to take drugs but only
concentrate on the healing process. There is some inpatient treatment, some of these treatments
are, substance abuse, eating disorder treatment and much more. There is continual supervision of
patients so as to be aware of their progress. The following explains why the inpatient treatment is
effective as compared to outpatient:
