security and power. The need to join international organizations by states depends with state’s
individual needs and necessities. In general, states benefit a great deal by being members of
international organization. Some of the benefits that states enjoy by being members of certain
international organization include free trade environments, free movement of people from
different states, minimal trade restrictions and many other reasons deemed necessary by different
states. There are different theories that outline diverse reasons why the states join international
organizations; they include Realism, Liberalism, Constructivism, Feminism, and Marxism. The
best explanation is done by the realism that stipulates about the concepts of security and power
while the worst theory is Marxism.

For the realists, the international system is defined by disorder, due to the lack of a vital
power. States are independent and thus separate from each other, there is no integral society or
structure that can develop or even occur to mandate the relationships between the states (Burchill
