Abstract

Natural environments refers to all naturally occurring living and non-living things. This
means they happen without the input of human being. But environment as whole refers to
interactions of living and non-living things, which at the end of the day affects the economic
activity or the survival by affecting it positively or negatively. This includes, all living species,
whether, climate as well as natural resources that affect the human survival. The paper is going
to discuss the climate changes as a factor of environmental damage, by discussing what it is,
causes and the impacts of the change.
Introduction
Climate change is the alteration of the global or local climatic arrangements, especially
an alteration that happened from the middle of the 20th century to the present time caused by the
rise in the composition of carbon dioxide in the air. This rise is usually as a result of the
utilization of fossil fuels which emit the gas. This is also an alteration in the normal climatic
conditions, or in the time disparity of weather within lengthier normal conditions. Climate
change is said to be triggered by elements like biotic processes, plate tectonics, volcanic
eruptions, and solar radiation. Other activities of human beings have also been considered as
sources of this condition which is also identified as global warming.
Statement of the Problem
Climate change has majorly been caused by the activities of the human beings (Mischel
& Shoda, 1995). Their behavior is ordinarily complicated hence societies and separate persons
are adjustable and resistant, but they are as well guided by the indirect elements of the conditions
they live in. Therefore, most scientists have been concerned by the dealing with the issues

brought about by the environmental strategy decisions. For instance, the efforts to convince the
citizens to embrace atomic energy as well as radioactive leftover locations in the late twentieth
century. Similarly, climate change is psychologically detached in period and space, contains
numerous suspicions, and needs broad collaboration at interpersonal, countrywide, and
intercontinental levels. Comprehending all the consequences of these troublesome elements of
human conduct as well as climate change need additional examination, while the current
knowledge of the psychologists will facilitate the development of rules after careful clarification
and revision.
Behavioral Analysis of the Problem
The research of B.F Skinner was as a result of considering the classical conditioning
being very shallow to comprehend the complex behavior of people. He had the notion that
comprehension of behavior is facilitated by the consideration of the causes as well as the
repercussions of people’s actions. Operant conditioning is involved with operant which is the
deliberate activities of an individual with the ability to impact the neighboring environment.
Skinner presented a new word in the law of effect which is reinforcement (Moore, 2013). This
was then used to study behavior claiming that conduct which is supported has the ability to be
repeated and that which is not compatible may ordinarily be reduced.
This psychologist further recognized three kinds of reactions that come after the
behavior. These comprise of neutral operant which is the reaction from the surrounding which
has no ability to reduce or raise the likelihood of behavior to be recurrent. The reinforcers are the
reactions from the surrounding which raise the probability of conduct being recurrent. This could
be negative or positive. The positive usually increases the chances of recurring behavior since it
rewards the appropriate behavior. The negative as well increases the possibility of recurring

behavior since it withdraws the hostile encounter after the behavior. The punishers are the
reactions from the surrounding with the ability to reduce the possibility of the behavior to be
recurrent. Therefore, punishment deteriorates conduct.
Therefore, in this case, Skinner would analyze the climate change as being caused by
human conduct which is supported by the rewards they get after using items which harm the
environment. This includes the use of inorganic fuels which increase the efficiency of carrying
out activities like running machines, turbines and vehicles. These activities improve the living
conditions of people hence being enforcements to their constant repetition. Electricity improves
the lighting systems at homes as well as industries which are produced by running turbines
which use inorganic fuel and emit carbon dioxide into the air. Therefore, Skinner would assert
that it is this advantage that increases the chances of repeating the behavior since it is a reward to
humans. People would hence ignore the side effects on the climatic alterations and continue with
the behavior.
The negative reinforcers are exhibited in the inability to travel over wide geographical
distances in the event one decides to abstain from using the locomotives that emit carbon dioxide
in the air. This would include the motor vehicles, airpl...
