Human beings are inherently social creatures that live, play, and work together in groups.
Understanding the personality and social development of individuals thus requires the
examination of different stages of development (in children) from different perspectives which
interact and correlate to shape development. These aspects include biological maturation which
supports the emotional and social competencies for which temperamental individuality exists,
(Buss, A). The next perspective is the social context where each child exists and lives and which
encompasses relationships that provide a sense of guidance, security, and knowledge. Thus, the
article aims to show how preschool children and infants develop along these lines.
The Social Context and Relationships.
In contrast, all infants and preschoolers experience developments in personality and
social contexts which explain the interaction of children biologically, socially and
psychologically. From infancy, babies learn to develop relationships with their parents
particularly the mother during nurturing and breastfeeding, (Buss, A). The child develops a
strong emotional attachment to persons who show warmth, security, affirmation, and guidance
thus creating a bond with these people. Besides, a newborn cannot develop friendships with other
newborns. As the child matures, the nature of relationships change.
