The three witches meet up and plan on the way to encounter Macbeth, the Scottish
General, and they agree that they would meet him upon the heath that he will cross at the end
of the battle.

The setting of this play is in the dark, cloudy place that experiences thunder and
lightning where the witches congregate to make plans and decide on best time and place to
counter Macbeth.
Scene 2
3. King Duncan of Scotland asks for a report from the captain who has just returned
from battle. Put into your own words, what the captain had to say about the battle
between the Scots and the Irish.
The captain hails Macbeth and Banquo for their bravery in the battlefields. The rebels
were no match for the brave Macbeth and Banquo, who feared nothing, and fought the enemy
majestically with steel swords.
The captain praises Macbeth’s resolve to defeat the enemy, and this resulted in them
scattering and running away. No sooner had Macbeth thought it was over than a new revolt
under the Norweyan Lord emerged- more intense and fierce, but Macbeth did not look back.
He led doubled the strength and fought off the fresh assault under the Norweyan Lord.
