For every athlete, training is paramount to their success. There are six training variables which
need to be considered when training including;
•
Needs Analysis- This is where the sport or the activity the athlete is training for plus the
historical training of the athlete. All the goals or objectives and unique characteristics
have to be considered to make training regimen plan as specific as possible.
•
Exercise Selection- Exercises reflecting the athlete's sports need are chosen. Core
exercises which involve bigger muscles and Assistance exercises which involve smaller
muscles need to be determined also based on the type of sport the athlete is playing.
•
Training Frequency- these are the number of training sessions per given period of time.
Again the experience and the objectives of the athlete have to be considered when
determining training frequency. Less training sessions are given to less experienced
athletes.
