Is Putin Undermining Western Democracy?
While both the Russians and the West is seen to fight against each other concerning a
common area of interests, the aims of Putin are based on the incompatibility of his government
with American interest in Europe. These competitions between the west and the Russia has reached
the terrifying heights, and it’s very difficult to tell the intentions of both countries.
Russian's campaign of disinformation in the West is a protest against politicians from both
extremes of the political spectrums to discredit the Western governments, democracy policies and
the institutions such as NATO. Although some bodies seem to back up NATO, the current U.S
presidency may have some allies with the Russians. The intimidations of Russia is the lead a
conservative revival against the western countries democracies. Putin set a challenge to test the
democracy of the United States, as per recent elections conducted, Russia intervened the election
processes for the current president Donald Trump (Brownstein, 2016).
The question is, Why did Putin government act for Donald Trump and not Hillary Clinton?.
It may be because Putin is trying to bring his brand of leadership to the west, so he has to allies
with many of the political beacons, so as they can deliver the consistent Russian interest even if it
contradicts their previous or current positions. President Donald Trump's unwavering support for
Putin, and the similarities of policy making, which seem to support the Russia's goals is scaring to
the west since it is difficult to rationalize. This Putin influences on the west governments are to
achieve the domestic and foreign strategies, Putin wants to be a key player in formulating the
policies through his unconventional means (Amann, & Lokshin, 2016). He is trying to find a
political support from all the areas including the intellectuals, government and also deploying of
the military.

Putin used the weaponized disinformation to bring down the reputation of the West core
values support to the public, and this was mainly to distort U.S and the European decision making,
Putin attacked those areas which the United States had many interests on for example the Baltic
and the Black sea. Putin supports radical anti-establishment groups so as to intimidate the West
operations. Putin used disinformation to exaggerate on the Ukraine crisis that the West involved,
it was very difficult for the United States and the Europe to understand the Russian threat, which
if they are not in a position to urgently respond to this challenge. The West will risk increasing
public discontent, increasing the rise of the radical challenges and setbacks among their business
zones. For the West to respond to this they need a stronger analysis of the Russian propaganda,
prepare it and reach the targeted audience as faster as possible to avoid disinformation and
distortion from the public.
The use of cyber attacks to influence and manipulate the 2016 US presidential elections
portrayed a desire of Putin and his government to undermine the US democratic order and rights.
But these activities were more involving and may seem to have personal issues attached to the
operation based on its escalation directness which was significantly focused on specific characters
in politics. Putin personally was much interested with the US 2016 US presidential since he
influenced and contributed mentally to the campaigns, and his goal was to undermine the faith and
their democratic process. Also, the more personal area was to degenerate the secretary of state
Clinton and make her be disputed by the public by hacking her mail accounts and displaying to
the public an electronically modified messages this is because Russians knew that Hillary Clinton
was a preferred candidate and she was likely to win the elections. Putin preferences of candidates
were Donald Trump. Donald Trump can easily be swayed by Putin, to form allies in the fight
against the Islamic State (ISIS) (Boot, 2017). In a comparison of democracy between US and

Russian, these are totally different, in the US, democracy is used to establish a path for power
handover to next leader, politicians in the United States serve at the pleasure and the needs of the
people. The citizens are the one to determine the fate of their leaders but not in Russia, there is no
democratic right to a common citizen apart from rampant inequalities and fight for power and
having a fear of being overthrown from power. Based on this the sovereignty of democratic
countries like the West, could not peacefully coexist with the Russians, that is why Putin does
whatever it takes to bring does their reputation. According to me the running of the US and Russian
as at per this year, this, because seems to be such a guy whose say, should be considered and not
that of public nor the press. Democracy is something that is important to the US since it brings out
some accountability to the government but when compared to the Putin governance, is not in a
position to have free and open speech, dissent leadership or the rule by consensus, he uses
comments and his authority to get what he wants. They just interested in bully the West and
mistreating with several threats that bring out negative reputations. US government everyone has
a right to speak out his/her heart.
The US should act and impose new sanctions on Russia, to avoid the interference in any
upcoming elections, only that this might be hard to be approved by the Head of US, support some
Putin policies
Conclusion
Putin is a ruthless masterminded, strong man, who had a lot of problems and he ruled
recklessly, he did not consider the opinions of the public. Although the United States worked with
Putin to secure the Iranian nuclear agreement, he was involved in major confrontations with his
competitors and enemies. These showed that Putin has a pragmatic streak Although the United

States President Donald Trump believes that allies with Putin will be advantageous to his country,
to me this is a decoy trick used by Putin to get back his streak powers to the west.
