BOEING COMPANY STRATEGIC AUDIT REPORT

Executive Summary
This strategic report focuses analyzing the global position of Boeing Company and
how its business strategy aligns with the goals and actual procedures of the company. The
analysis is purposed to give management strategic options available to the company and offer
recommendations on how it should proceed to meet its goals. Research was conducted via
multiple analyses of financial information available in the company’s website and other
public information to find out the state of the company. The findings of the results did not
suggest any major misalignments between the objectives of the company and the actual
performance. The findings of the results confirmed that Boeing is very successful making it
one of the most dominant forces in the aircraft industry. The research however confirmed that
Boeing has to address various forces in order to enhance further growth. Some of the
recommendations from my analysis include continuous improvement in both technical and
logistical support for its fleet. It should improve its research and development so as to offer
new technology to the aviation industry in comparison to its competition especially Airbus.
The company should correct its issues that results in emergency evacuation in order to
improve its brand name. It should offer special offers to return customers in order to boost
sales courtesy of referrals. The company should focus more on European and Asian markets
in order to expand and capture market share which will subsequently increase revenues. The
company should increase its capacity so as to handle new production models and prove
reliability so as to achieve growth and profitability within the next few years.

BOEING COMPANY STRATEGIC AUDIT REPORT

History of Boeing Strategic Audit Firm
The performance of Boeing has been outstanding over the years. William E. Boeing
purchased a shipyard in Seattle in 1910 that would later be the first airplane manufacturing
plant. Six years later, the company was incorporated as Pacific Aero Products Company so as
to assist in plane making and mail delivery. The company was changed to Boeing Airplane
Company in the honor of William Boeing a year later. The first airplane to be manufactured
was named Model C and was powered by a Curtis OX-5 engine. The US purchased 51 out of
the 56 aircraft created during the First World War. This was an opening point for Boeing as it
recorded its first financial breakthrough and a long-time partnership with the US forces. The
first commercial flight by Boeing, the B-1, was used to deliver mail. Boeing later founded
Boeing Air Transport that would later become United Airlines. The Great Depression delayed
the production of commercial aircraft making its competition McDonnell Douglas
Corporation to create the first successful commercial aircraft named Douglas DC-3. Boeing
retaliated with the creation of a 90 sitter passenger aircraft, the largest of its time. The success
of the fight was short-lived as the World War II forced the company to produce more military
aircraft. Production of military aircraft was successful at this time with the firm registering
the creation of more than 350 airplanes monthly. The company suffered losses after the war
and had to focus on the creation of commercial airliners so as to sustain itself. It created
turbofan propelled engines that would cross the Atlantic. Boeing created the 707, a 156 sitter
commercial plane that would cross the Atlantic in shorter periods. This won the hearts of
passengers and was succeeded by the 727 trijet and subsequently the 737 twinjet. The 737
twinjet propelled the company to greater financial success as it was one of the world’s best
selling aircraft. The 737 twinjet was succeeded by Boeing 747, a 490 sitter aircraft that made
the company to be an ultimate market leader for a record 37 years. The 70’s saw the company
be on the brink of extinction courtesy of a production debt. It recovered in the 80’s despite
