Introduction
At the international level, there are many laws that govern almost everything that is done
from businesses to a way of life. These laws must be flexible and accommodative to all
people from all walks of life. There are bodies that are involved in making these laws and
ensure that they are up to standard. These agreements may be achieved by agreement among
states in a partnership or by the practice of sovereign states. Kundu & Katz (2003),
international bodies such as the European union have had their legal structures in place which
guides everything including expansion of businesses. Each state has their own independent
laws but comes together to form binding ones.
The issue of common civil laws internationally
The world has developed and globalized and has become a global economy where goods
produced in one country are packaged and sold in a totally different country. Businesses have
expanded their roots into other countries and got established. These are always inspired by
the search of a good market, raw materials, and cheap labor. This, however, comes with its
own share of challenges as one ought to not only learn the people’s cultures but also respect
and put up policies that respect and appreciate these cultures which will in turn help in
producing goods that are favorable. The legal systems also ought to be learned and adhered to
the political landscape and the condition of its economy.
The issue of common law is mostly found in countries that were colonized by the Great
Britain. Here, rulings are always made depending on how that particular situation was
handled in the past. Records are therefore kept and retrieved to pass a judgment when a
similar problem arises. In civil laws, there are detailed and well laid down rules. Judges here
have no flexibility but only to apply what is written.
