In this case, Gonzales V Raich, the proceeding is a result of the conflict of laws between
the state law and the federal law on the growing of marijuana. The defendant had filed for
injunctive and declaratory relief against the government prohibiting the enforcement of the
Controlled Substances Act (CSA). There was the issue of the Commerce Clause, Article 1,
Section 3, Clause 1 that explains that Congress has the power to regulate commerce including
