Introduction

In the modern community, we only read and cite epics but we have not relived the epics of
the traditional and recognition of important heroes in the past and history. Using the different
themes and ways writing epics helps in understanding the meaning and how the traditionalists
expressed different heroes through traditional engagements. The recognition of heroes in the
community marks the rise of different cultures and traditions passed from one generation to
another. It is important to remember the importance of tracking down the necessary resources
such as mapping traditions into celebrating glorious ways of the modern era. The different
themes used in epics helps us in the modern era to learn and contemplate on how they fit into
our demands and societies. It is essential and critical to influence the traditions and marking
to improve, develop and increase communication towards the emerging issues in the
contemporary community. For instance, the focus is on a research based on defining the
themes used in the epic of odyssey.
The odyssey
As defined, epic is a long narrative poem that defines and clarifies the achievements of great
men (heroes) and women (heroines) in our past. The odyssey stems from a long narrative of a
story in form of a poem from the folklore or folk tale in the cultural past of the Greek
community. Composed in the 700BC, the odyssey depicts a journey of the leader or king of
the Ithaca nation and the leader of the Troy War (Saïd, S., & Webb, 2011). It depicts and
highlights the different themes that communicate towards the community about the different
civilizations of the Greek mythology and people. Although as a literal piece, it defines and
borrows from the rich expanse of the community and how its different traditions and cultures
meets the lives of the people living in the given society. It is important and essential as it
defines the different challenges and entities that define the existence and role of the
