Interview two persons in a nursing management role, such as a Charge Nurse/Team Leader, Head Nurse/Manager, Director of Nursing, or Chief Nursing Officer.
In your interviews, ask each person the following questions:
- What are the qualifications for your management position?
- What type of training did you experience for this position?
- What were some challenges/ roadblocks and how were these overcome?
- What successes/ accomplishments have you had and how did they come about?
- What skills are there to master to support your performance in your role?
Finally, reflect on your own perceptions of the roles. For example, would you see either as a career goal for yourself?
Summarize your interview findings in a 3 – 4 page paper in APA format describing each leadership role. Title page and references are not included in the 3-4 page range. Include a minimum of two scholarly references from peer reviewed professional literature to support your views.

Qualifications for a head nurses and team leaders
To be a head nurse or a nurse team leader one needs to be a registered nurse with the
different registration bodies. Also, one has to have a good amount of experience; this can be a
minimum of five years in a care facility, but this can vary depending on the facility. Personal
attributes are also important for this position; head nurses are to have compassion irrespective of
the situation. One should also have excellent organizational and coordination skills. The skills in
coordination help the individual offer top quality care while at the same time coordinating the
activities of the other nurses. They can guide the other nurses and schedule their operations.
The head nurse should also have negotiation and conflict resolution skills; this helps them
resolve conflicts at the place of work whenever they arise. They should have excellent
interpersonal skills which are vital considering they interact with patients, nurses that they head,
