  2. Describe the determinants of health and explain how those factors contribute to the development of this disease.
  3. Discuss the epidemiologic triangle as it relates to the communicable disease you have selected. Include the host factors, agent factors (presence or absence), and environmental factors. (The textbook describes each element of the epidemiologic triangle).
  4. Explain the role of the community health nurse (case finding, reporting, data collecting, data analysis, and follow-up).
  5. Identify at least one national agency or organization that addresses the communicable disease chosen and describe how the organization(s) contributes to resolving or reducing the impact of disease.

A minimum of three references is required.

Description of Chickenpox
The infectious disease which is usually very dominant at an early age is known as
chickenpox. The main cause of chickenpox is due to the varicella-zoster virus. It is mostly seen
in children who are below 10 years but the children who are healthy recover soon. There is an
incubation period for the disease known as the period before the symptoms appear and its starts
from 10-21 days. Those who live with the person having chickenpox have a chance of becoming
infectious from the 10th to the 21 days. (Cork, & Kerry, 2012)
The disease is transmitted through the following routes including airborne respiratory
droplets, directly contact with the vesicle fluid and the indirectly contact with clothes, it can be
spread from adults having a shingle. Those people having shingle become the cause of spreading
VZV virus into others. (Cork, & Kerry, 2012)
The signs and symptoms of chickenpox start from the symptoms like feeling cold and the
virus begins to appear for 5 days in the nasopharynx. Other symptoms of chickenpox include
fever, myalgia, and headache which is mild. The rash appears which are itchy and vesicular in
nature along with it, these spots appear on specific body organs including trunk and limbs. The
infection severity varies from individual to individual. (Cork, & Kerry, 2012)
The complication of chickenpox are based on the age of an individual and it usually
diagnosed in infants who are under the age of 1. Children have a strong immune system and after
taking antibiotics, they recover soon. Thus, it is assessed that there are minimum complications
of chickenpox at childhood. However, some neurological complications like encephalitis,
meningitis, and the rare one myocarditis and glomerulonephritis are also expected to happen.
The infection on the skin which is bacterial is found as a complication in children below the age
