The Affiliative Conflict Theory

This final take-home paper/assignment will be due by, May 16, 2017. You have six weeks’ timeline for this paper. You have been assigned a theory, which addresses key concepts related to “Nonverbal Communication” - thoroughly discussed and explored throughout the semester. As you explore the theory in-depth, you will find out how it has come to be applied in nonverbal communication contexts and in our every-day life.

Start your individual paper by searching the databases for relevant research. I have assigned the name of the theory. You will explore the name of the person or people associated with its development. When you discover the names of the early researchers, start your project by looking for sources written by them or written about them.

The theory selected must be synthesized into important findings, adaptations of the theory, and typical questions and/or methods employed by the researchers. You should also include a reference to the original source of theory, the basic concepts involved, and a writing critique of the theory’s value. Be sure that all ten sources are scholarly and available.

The findings of this literature review paper should be developed and associated with your notes you’ve taken on the theory, your critical thinking, and discussions and concepts that we have raised throughout the semester. A review of the literature is generally what we find at the beginning of scholarly articles, Masters theses, or dissertations. This is a narrative demonstrating your understanding of a theory, your knowledge of how it has been used and modified, and your sense of how it might be used or applied in the future. Therefore, your paper should include the following APA guidelines:

1.Title Page: This will be your first pages. It Includes heading, your name, and your institutional affiliation

2.Abstract: This will be your second page. You describe what you will explore throughout your literature review. This section should be brief (120 t0 200 words)

3.Introduction: Here comes the start of your third page

4.Explanation of the theory including the original scholar (if possible to trace and/or those who wrote about it), main terms (concepts), and where possible, a historical context in which the theory was developed.

5. Examination and explanation of how the theory has evolved. Here, you will have an opportunity to summarize what you have read. You’ll probably wish to use a chronological order, but topics may emerge or patterns of research may emerge that will suggest some other order.

6.Critiques and criticisms of the theory. This analytical writing section is crucial and it demonstrates your in-depth understanding of the pros as well as of the cons of how this theory is applied in our everyday life.

7.Findings/Results: Apply nonverbal communication concepts to demonstrate your ability as a critical thinker and associate them with your theory. So remember that your critical thinking skills associated with theoretical approaches and communication concepts is fundamental in this particular section of your literature review.

8. Reference List and don’t forget to alphabetize your reference list.

9. Double-space and use Times New Roman 11 or 12-point font.

10. Number of pages will be determined by you as long as your explanation of selected theory is thorough. Please do not exceed 15 pages.
