Killing us softly is a documentary or film from America made by Margaret Lazarus, Patricia
Stallone, Renner Wunderlich, and Joseph Vitagliano and was directed by Jean Kilbourne. The
film first broadcasted in 1979 and has been revised and updated four times. The film focused on
the photos of ladies, particularly on the stereotypes of gender, the impacts of advertising on the
personal image of women and the objection of the body of the women.

What impresses me in the movie or film is the way it is very engaging and the humorous way it
evaluates how the images of the ladies add meaning to our value. Furthermore, the film raises the
consciousness of feminist. On the other hand, what irritates me on the film is the fact Kilbourne
conflate erotica and pornography without realizing that the advertising artistic and satirical
values and ignoring the effect of the globe of fashion. The analysis of Kilbourne has challenged
to reconsider the correlation between advertising with respect to wider issues of identity, gender
violence, gender discrimination, culture, sexism...
