Identify the elements in each of their poems in which you see evidence of the "double-consciousness" being expressed by each other. Fully describe at least two (2) primary themes you see in the poetry written during this time period, referring to specific lines in each of the poems. Write your own poem that expresses these identified themes of the Harlem Renaissance.

Introduction
The Harlem Renaissance period existed between 1920’s to around mid-1930’s which
brought to focus to numerous celebrated poets and black writers like Wallace Thurman, and Jean
Toomer, Nella Larsen, Langston Hughes among others. The writings from these different poets
were an inspiration to many future black writers. Their desire was to reveal the black people
lives in a more realistic manner. The movement was described as an intellectual movement that
sparked some new black social identity. The Renaissance comprised of graphical arts that had
jazz excluded.
