The purpose of the Student Action Plan is to allow you to look at yourself, evaluate how you use resources, how your use of resources affects others and most importantly, what role you will play in helping make the planet better for all living things. What actions will you take?
The assignment is not difficult. I want you to be honest and truthful. If you plan on doing nothing, tell me that, BUT TELL ME WHY. I would question why you took this class in the first place, but I will respect your position if you can tell me why you decided to not take action.
Your plan should answer the following questions:
1) What is your view of Nature? Do you put value in it? Why or why not?
2) How do you use resources? Make a list of the resources you use each and every day. Are they renewable or non renewable? Tell me why it is important to be able to determine and understand this.
3) Based on your use of resources, is your carbon footprint positive to the environment, negative or neutral? Make sure to state why.
4) How does your use of resources affect other living things and others around the world?
5) What are your sustainability goals? What can you do to be kinder to the environment? What can you do?
6) What is your timeline? When will you start and specifically what will you do?

My View of Nature
The word nature stems from a Latin word natura, which essentially means the natural
world. However, nature from my own point of view is all things; both living and non-living,
which are present in the world and their existence does not include any human interactions for
them to come to be. These living and non-living nature include human beings, animals, insects,
plants, mountains, rivers, waterfalls, oceans etc.
I put a strong value on nature since I, as a human being, I cannot survive without it. My
basic human need includes the air we breathe, water that comes from oceans and rivers and it is
used for drinking, preparing food, hygiene, and food that comes from plants and animals. As
described above, air, water, and food are derived from the nature and none of them comes into
existence through human interactions. Therefore, without the above-mentioned elements, my
chances of survival on this planet would be close to nil since they are the crucial needs for
survival in all animals including us humans.
Natural Resources
Natural resources are any items that human beings utilize and these items originate from
nature. I use these natural resources each day for my basic needs and for human survival. For
example, as mentioned earlier, I utilize air, water, and food on a daily basis; these elements are
derived from nature. In addition, the clothes that I wear to keep me warm are made from plants
such as organic cotton and wool that is produced from sheep shearing. Moreover, I use firewood
from trees to generate warmth during winter. Notably, I have a small homemade biogas plant
that uses waste from my kitchen such as food leftovers and vegetable waste as the feedstock; the
biogas produced from this small plant is used as a secondary fuel source in the house when I do
