HIST 105 Brookdale Community College World History Questions
1)Religion and Philosophy: Compare the religions and philosophies of China (yin and yang, legalism, Confucianism, Daoism); India (ahimsa, Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism); Persia (Zoroastrianism); Israel (Judaism); and Greece. Which ones seemed to have the most "faith" in humans to be good? Which ones distrusted them the most? Which ones looked to "improve" the conditions of human life and not just focus on "heavenly" salvation? Which one appeals to you the most and why?2) Social Order: The cultures of China, India, and Rome demonstrated marked systems of social control and in some ways inequality. In what ways does each of the cultures have a system that seems to uniquely match its history and society? Which ones seem to be the "toughest" on people? Which ones seem to be the most "effective"? Under which system would you personally choose to live? Why? Finally, compare the existence of patriarchy within the three cultures.3) Africa vs. America: The cultures of Africa (Nubia, Meroe, Axum, Niger River) make for a good comparison with the cultures of Mesoamerica (Maya, Teotihusacan). Can you find ways in which they are similar? Different? Consider areas such as class, specialization, trade, scholarship, writing, state vs. city-state vs. non-state, relationship to neighboring cultures, and the role of women, including leadership. Which one of these do you envision yourself living in?Each question has to be answered in atleast 1-2 pages long using specific resources from the unit.

Aspen University Introduction to Sociology Discussion
Discussion Question:
No matter what high school you attended, there were several types of groups. Name the in-groups in which you were associated. Name the out-groups that clashed with the in-group. Explain why you fit into one, and not the other. Do you feel as if you could have learned to fit into the out-group had you tried hard enough?
Overview
Sociologists are most interested in groups and group interactions. Groups are not tangible: They are shared ideas consisting of two or more people who are bound together in relatively stable patterns of social interaction and who share a feeling of unity. Groups are fabricated in the course of social interactions as people are clustered together in social units — creating an existence beyond the individuals who are involved
In this module, group relations, group dynamics, formal organizations, and the sociology of work are outlined. In addition, each of these categories is broken down into different types of groups and group dynamics. Formal organizations and bureaucracy are also discussed in this module. Although bureaucracy plays a key role into groups and socialization, they have many disadvantages and limitations that play a key role in the sociology of work.
This module also explains why people work/or do not work and how they enter a category in society due to their work.
